Getting your hair done in Barcelona: an English guide
- by Equipo Fusion Beauty
Quick answer: at Fusion Beauty (Carrer de Floridablanca 73, Sant Antoni, Barcelona) you can book and talk to your stylist in English. A women's cut costs €15, a cut and blow-dry €30–35 and a men's fade with wash €20. Tipping is not expected. We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–14:00.
Moving to a new city, or visiting for a week, and needing a haircut raises the same small questions every time. How do I book? What does that word on the price list mean? Should I tip? This guide answers them from the salon's side of the chair, with our real prices and the Spanish you will hear at any salon in Spain.
Booking in English (Booksy, WhatsApp)
Most salons in Barcelona work by appointment, and walking in without one often means waiting or coming back another day. The easiest way to book with us is online on Booksy, which has an English version: choose the service, see the price and pick a free time. You get a confirmation straight away.
If you would rather ask a question first, send a WhatsApp message in English to +34 625 78 65 89. Tell us what you want and add a photo if you have one; we reply with the right service and a time. You can also call the same number during opening hours.
Booking ahead matters most for longer services. A cut is easy to fit in, but colour, balayage, keratin and lash treatments need a longer block of time, which we keep for you when you book. If you are only in Barcelona for a few days, book a few days before you arrive. Our English-speaking salon page lists everything we offer in English, and you can see who will look after you on our team page: Adolfo for cuts, colour, balayage and straightening, and Elizabeth Silva for brows, lashes and micropigmentation.
What things cost here
Spanish price lists use a few terms that do not translate word for word. Here is part of our menu with the Spanish name you will see on Booksy, what it means in English and our September 2026 price from the price list:
| Spanish name | What it means | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Corte mujer | Women's cut, no blow-dry | €15 |
| Corte y peinado (corto / medio) | Cut and blow-dry, short or medium hair | €30–35 |
| Lavar y peinar (corto a extra largo) | Wash and blow-dry, no cut | €25–40 |
| Corte de flequillo | Fringe (bangs) trim | €10 |
| Corte clásico hombre | Classic men's cut | €15 |
| Corte fade / degradado + lavado | Fade with a wash | €20 |
| Lavado, masaje, corte y peinado | Men's wash, massage, cut and style | €20 |
| Corte niño | Kids' haircut | €15 |
| Color | All-over colour, priced by length | €45–95 |
| Mechas balayage | Balayage | €120–195 |
| Lifting de pestañas + tinte | Lash lift with tint | €35 |
Where there is a range, the price depends on the length of your hair, and any extra for very long or thick hair is agreed before we start. Two terms confuse visitors most. Corte y peinado is a cut plus a blow-dry, so you leave styled. Lavar y peinar is a wash and blow-dry with no cut, the one to book before a dinner or an event. For what each cut includes, read our guide to haircut prices at an English-speaking salon.
Spanish salon phrases you will actually use
Even with an English-speaking stylist, knowing the words helps you read a price list, follow what is happening and book at any salon in Spain. These are the ones you will hear every day:
| Spanish | English | When you use it |
|---|---|---|
| Quiero pedir cita | I'd like to book an appointment | Phone or WhatsApp |
| corte | haircut | Any cut |
| solo las puntas | just the ends (a trim) | You want to keep your length |
| sanear las puntas | take off dry or split ends | A tidy-up between bigger changes |
| cortar dos dedos | cut about two fingers' width | Showing length with your fingers |
| capas | layers | Movement and lighter ends |
| recto | blunt, straight across | A solid line at the ends |
| desfilar | thin out or texturise | Thick hair that feels heavy |
| media melena | shoulder-length cut | A lob |
| flequillo | fringe (bangs) | Front section over the forehead |
| flequillo cortina | curtain fringe | A soft fringe parted in the middle |
| degradado | fade | Men's sides and back |
| con la máquina del 2 | clippers on a number 2 | Length on the sides |
| a tijera | scissors only | No clippers |
| los lados, la nuca, arriba | the sides, the nape, the top | Saying where to cut |
| raíz | roots | Regrowth or root colour |
| tinte / color | colour, dye | All-over colour |
| mechas | highlights | Lighter strands |
| matiz | toner | Adjusting the shade after lightening |
| más claro / más oscuro | lighter / darker | Describing the result |
| cálido / frío | warm / cool | Golden or ashy tones |
| lavar y peinar | wash and blow-dry | Styling with no cut |
| liso / ondas | straight / waves | How you want it styled |
| no me lo cortes mucho | please don't cut too much | Before the scissors come out |
| ¿Puedo pagar con tarjeta? | Can I pay by card? | At the till |
Two habits help in any language. Show length with your fingers rather than saying "un poco" (a little), because a little means different things to different people. And bring two photos: one of the result you want and one of what you do not want.
Explaining a colour you want
Colour is harder to describe than a cut. Photos taken in daylight are more useful than filtered ones, and it helps to say how much upkeep you want. Tell your stylist what your hair has had in the last year (dye, henna, keratin, lightening), because it changes what can be done in one appointment. At the consultation Adolfo looks at your hair and tells you what is realistic, how many sessions it may take and the price before he starts. If you are thinking about balayage, our balayage price guide explains the options, and our autumn winter 2026 guide shows this season's shades.
Tipping hairdressers in Spain
Tipping in Spain is optional and modest, and salons are no exception. At Fusion Beauty the price on the list is the price you pay, there is no service charge added, and nobody expects a tip. If you are happy and want to leave something, rounding up is a common gesture in Spain, but it is entirely up to you. You can pay by card or cash at the salon.
Opening hours and Sundays
We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–14:00. We are closed on Sundays, as many salons in Barcelona are. If you only have the weekend, Saturday morning is the time to aim for, and it tends to fill first, so book early. For public holidays, check the free times on Booksy or ask us on WhatsApp.
