Hair after summer in Barcelona: a 4-week recovery plan

Hair after summer in Barcelona: a 4-week recovery plan

  • by Equipo Fusion Beauty

Quick answer: if the sun, the sea, the pool and Barcelona's hard water have left your hair dry, rough and dull, what works best is a plan of about four weeks: trim the ends, hydrate, add an intensive treatment if needed and refresh your colour last. At Fusion Beauty (Carrer de Floridablanca 73, Sant Antoni, Barcelona) a hydration treatment costs €50, hair botox €95–155 and the Korean head spa €75. Adolfo, our stylist specialised in treatments and colour, checks your hair and adjusts the plan.

In September and October we often hear the same thing in the salon: "my hair just won't behave". After a summer in Barcelona, between the beach, the pool, the midday sun and the humidity, it is normal to find your ends rough, your hair tangling more and your colour no longer shining the way it did in June. It is almost always a question of how hair looks and feels, and you can work on it step by step. This guide explains what happened, how to tell what your hair needs and a practical plan for the first four weeks, with prices from our price list.

What a Barcelona summer does to your hair

There is no single culprit, just several things adding up over three months:

  • Sun. Long hours of sun lighten and dull colour, especially on dyed or highlighted hair, and leave the surface feeling drier.
  • Sea salt. Salt water and beach wind leave hair stiff and tangled, especially when it dries in the sun without a rinse.
  • Chlorine. Pool water dries out the surface of the hair and can leave blonde looking duller or with unwanted tones.
  • Hard water. Barcelona's tap water is high in limescale, which can leave a film on the hair and take away shine and softness.
  • Humidity. In the Mediterranean air, dry hair absorbs moisture unevenly and frizzes. We explain this in detail in our guide to frizz in Barcelona: keratin for humidity and hard water.

How to tell what your hair needs

These are the most common signs after summer and what they usually point to:

  • Split ends or ends that snap when you brush: time for a trim.
  • Rough hair that tangles when you step out of the shower: it needs hydration.
  • Lightened, porous or very dry lengths and ends: ask for an intensive treatment such as hair botox.
  • A halo of frizz the hairdryer cannot tame: look at the anti-frizz options or keratin.
  • Dull colour or yellow tones: a colour refresh, ideally at the end of the plan.
  • A scalp loaded with sunscreen, salt or product: a deep cleanse such as the Korean head spa.

Your plan for the first 4 weeks

This schedule is a guide. Every head of hair is different, and Adolfo tells you at the consultation which steps you need and which you can skip.

Week What to do Service and price
Week 1 Trim the ends and a first hydration Women's cut €15 or cut and style €30–35; Salerm 21 hydration €50 or Moroccanoil Repair €45
Week 2 Deep-cleanse the scalp after weeks of salt, chlorine and sunscreen Korean head spa €75, about 60 minutes
Week 3 An intensive treatment chosen for your hair Hair botox €95–155, Genoma hair reconstruction €95–155 or Bioplastia anti-frizz €50
Week 4 Refresh your colour or plan a straightening Colour €45–95, ammonia-free colour €45–85, Brazilian keratin €95–165

Week 1. Trimming the driest ends is the step that changes how your hair looks the most, because the ends take the brunt of the summer. Pair it with a hydration treatment so your hair combs through easily again.

Week 2. The Korean head spa is a ritual of about 60 minutes with a scalp check, a deep cleanse, a treatment for your scalp type and a head, neck and shoulder massage. After the summer it is a good way to start from scratch, and it is very relaxing too.

Week 3. This is where the main treatment comes in. Hair botox adds softness and shine and keeps your wave; despite the name, it contains no botulinum toxin. If frizz is your main issue, the Bioplastia anti-frizz treatment is a lighter option. See every option on our hair treatments page and compare them in keratin vs organic straightening vs hair botox.

Week 4. Once the hair is hydrated, colour usually comes out more even and shinier. It is the moment to move from summer blonde to an autumn shade; find ideas in our autumn/winter 2026 hair trends guide. If you want colour and keratin, the order matters: we explain it in keratin or colour first?

Your routine at home between appointments

What you do at home decides how long the salon result lasts. These habits help a lot in autumn:

  • Use a sulphate-free, salt-free shampoo and conditioner on the lengths and ends every time you wash.
  • Rinse well: with Barcelona's hard water, product residue shows more.
  • Apply a heat protector before the hairdryer or straighteners and turn the temperature down a little.
  • Detangle from ends to roots on damp hair with a wide-tooth comb.

FAQ

How do I bring my hair back after summer?

Step by step: trim the ends, hydrate, add an intensive treatment if your hair is coloured or very dry, and leave the colour refresh until last. At Fusion Beauty we plan it over about four weeks, and Adolfo adjusts the plan to your hair at the consultation.

What is the best treatment for dry hair after summer?

For dry hair without colour, a Salerm 21 hydration (€50) is often enough. If your hair is dyed, highlighted or bleached, hair botox or Genoma reconstruction (€95–155) add more softness and shine.

Should I get a haircut after summer?

A trim is almost always worth it, because the ends take the brunt of the sun, salt and chlorine. Often one or two centimetres is enough. A women's cut costs €15.

When should I refresh my colour after summer?

Ideally after hydrating your hair, because colour usually comes out more even and shinier. In the four-week plan we leave it until the end. Colour costs €45–95 and ammonia-free colour €45–85.

What does a Korean head spa do after summer?

It is a ritual of about 60 minutes with a deep scalp cleanse, a treatment for your scalp type and a massage. After weeks of salt, chlorine and sunscreen, it is a good way to start from scratch. It costs €75.

Can I get keratin in autumn?

Yes. Autumn is a good time to head into winter with less frizz. If you also want colour, as a guide colour goes first and keratin second; Adolfo confirms the order and dates at the consultation.

How much does post-summer hair care cost at Fusion Beauty?

It depends on the steps you need. A cut with hydration costs €65 (€15 + €50). Hair botox costs €95–155 and the Korean head spa €75. We confirm the price before we start.
